Claude Code supports remote MCP servers over Streamable HTTP natively, so no proxy or npx command is needed.

Prerequisites

  • Claude Code installed
  • A MCPCore server with at least one tool

Quick install

On the server’s Integration tab, select Claude Code and copy the command from Quick install:
By default claude mcp add adds the server for you in the current project. Add --scope user to use it in every project, or --scope project to save it in the project’s .mcp.json so your team gets it too.

Manual setup

Add the server to .mcp.json in your project root. The Manual setup snippet on the Integration tab looks like this:
For API Key mode:
The snippet on the Integration tab contains your real key. Before you commit .mcp.json, replace the key with ${MCPCORE_API_KEY} as shown above: .mcp.json supports environment variables, so the key stays out of version control.

Verify

Run:
Your server should be listed as connected. Inside Claude Code, /mcp shows the server and its tools. Ask Claude to use one of your tools to confirm it works.
